A Personal War (closed)

United States, Civil War. You know, different sides means different thoughts on everything. None of us seriously ever throught that we'd actually become friends. I'm from the South, against all of this, but my family still supplies for it. My plantation works day and night, for what exactly? Then again, other plantations do the same.

But what about the North? That do they think of all this- I don't know. I've never been further than Maryland. But Virginia is pretty set in their ways, no one thinks they'll change them. But I do..

Name: Abigail Smiths (Abby)
Age: 16
Personality: Abby is pretty light, sticks to what she belives is right. Stubborn, and cares about others before herself- most of the time.
History: Abby was born and raised just outside of Richmond. She knows of the war, but just doesn't agree with her Father that they have to fight. That their plantation brings in the money and they have to keep it. She almost ran away once because of it, now she's kept on a pretty tight leash.

I looked around at the beautiful scene around me. For once, no yelling, no gunfire, and no screams of death that seemed to haunt me. I felt- free a little bit. Just a tiny bit.

I just about hated my life this year. Just because I was visiting my aunt at the time i had been enlisted... this is just great. If i werent completely pissed off at the world I might have noticed some of the beauty of the surrounding land

I closed my eyes for a moment, and smiled picking up my skirts and running over towards the little river I always used to play in. I slid off my shoes and stockings, dipping my feet in. I laughed a little bit at how cold it was, I wasn't prepared for that.

i sighed and slipped away from my camp. they wouldnt miss me much. I weaved my way slowly through the trees

I looked behind me and smiled a bit. Father left me alone this time. So I got up off the grass and started to wade through the river a bit staying away form the deeper end best I could. "Oh my God this is freezing!"

I heard a faint voice somewhere through the trees. My attention grabbed i headed toward it

I walked around a bit more, careful of my skirts and looked back at the trail, smiling. The wind blew a bit more and my hat flew off before I could snatch it. "No!"

a cool breeze ruffled my hair and almost out of nowhere a hat blew from the trees and got caught on a branch. without thinking i grabbed it and kept walking until i reached a river. Truely beautiful sight for me.

I ran out of the river and dropped my skirts turning towards where my hat blew, stopping. "I didn't realize I had company." I said, my accent laying on very thickly.

i grinned, she was southern. "Well neither did I but, with this blowin in the wind, It's hard to miss"

I chuckled a tiny bit and walked over. "Excuse my apperance." I said and tried to fix my skirts. I knew my face was entirely red. Oh this was horrifying...

i looked at the ground "you look lovely miss," i held out her hat "I believe this may have escaped you"

"Thank you." I nodded and took the hat placing it back on. I smiled a tiny bit and brushed some hair out of my eyes. "You're not from here are you?"

I was southern but Lived in the north with my aunt... i just couldnt find the words to say "It's a difficult story"

"I see." I nodded serious. "Well, thank you anyway. But I should get back, my father must be waiting for me..." I said my voice trailing off as I inched back towards my shoes.

"of course... would you like an escort?"

How could I possibly say no? Well, could I? "Of course." I replied and slid my shoes back on. "Thank you sir."

i went alittle red "please call me Nikoli" i offered her my arm as i was taught in those stupid cotilean classes

I felt myself smile a bit. "Well Nikoli, I'm Abigail Smiths. My father owns the plantation don the road." I said and took his arm gently.

"It's a pleasure to meet you" i smiled

I smiled and nodded. "Are you a soldier? Or do you have a plantation of your own somehwere around here?"

"i-.... I'm a soldier"

I felt myself stop in my tracks. "For which side?" I asked and looked at him nervously. Now this was serious.
