Perfect Assassins

I smiled a bit to Kyle as I offered out his tray. There was food for both of us and Krissy on the two trays.

Krissy:

I smiled at him sweetly. “Did you bring me something?” I asked, hopeful.

Michael:

"Your welcome to anything off of the trays. I kind of just grab some of everything, and bring it by. Kyle eats what he wants and the nurses take it away." I stated with a blink, not caring to lie about the fact that I hadn't eaten either since she had been here in the hospital.

Krissy:

I squinted at him a little then looked at Kyle when he spoke. “She’s not allowed to have anything that would upset her stomach, and not very much of anything. That’s what the doctor said. Otherwise she’ll throw it up.” He said to Michael before giving me a disapproving look.

Michael:

I looked at the trays and setting them on a small table I started shifting food around as best and as cleanly as I could, once I was done I had softer items on one tray while the other had things I thought might upset her stomach.

Krissy:

I looked at the food then sighed and laid back on the bed just as a nurse kame in to re-bandage my wound.

I moved next to the bed and whispered into her ear. "If you eat and play nice by keeping the IV in. You can have a kiss."

Krissy:

“You wouldn’t anyway?” I asked softly, conscious of Kyle being right there.

"Well...I would...but I might not make it as long then." I teased before patting her shoulder gently.

Krissy:

I sighed and allowed the nurse to re-bandage, and reinsert the IV. I looked as the IV loathingly once she left. I narrowed my eyes at Michael as I took a bite of something flavorless.

I gave a soft encouraging smile. I mouthed the words "Thank you." As I sat at the table and just kind of picked at the food without actually eating anything.

Krissy:

After a couple bites my hunger vanished to be replaced by a queasiness. I guessed Kyle was right… I laid down an closed my eyes for a moment, and before I knew it I was asleep again.

Michael:

Once she was asleep I gave up the pretense of eating. I watched her for a time before looking at Kyle. "I think I am more worried now that she is awake than I was when she was asleep." I admitted softly.

Kyle:

I laughed dryly. “Because now she can be difficult?” I asked, watching my sister sleep.

Michael:

"I was thinking more about the whining. But difficult works better." I said softly.

Kyle:

“She’s not the type to just rest and let herself heal. I bet you anything she’ll be wanting to leave here by tomorrow morning.” I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose.

Michael:

I sighed and nodded, "Well we could get her sedated. Or I can try to get her to stay, she might listen to me for a day or two before she won't accept it anymore."

Kyle:

I felt a flicker of annoyance and remembered why I didn’t like him in the first place. “I highly doubt even you could make her want to stay. She hates hospitals more than anything.” I said dully.

Michael:

I nodded and ran a hand over my face. "Your her brother, I'm not married to her yet. So...she is probably more under your responsibility than mine. Do what you feel is right."

Kyle:

I sighed and held my face in my hands.

Michael:

"I'll leave you alone to think. Want a coffee or something to go with the food? I didn't grab drinks." I said getting to my feet.

Kyle:

I shook my head silently. I reached for Krissy’s hand and held it in both of mine.

I nodded and left the room with my hands in my pockets. I felt useless, unable to help my beloved, and knowing that her brother didn't like me.

Kyle:

Kris and Aalen arrived a couple hours later. While our uncle was fond of her, he never displayed his affection toward her. Her stood rather stiffly at the foot of her bed while Aalen, who had no blood relation to us, went to her side and touched her cheek gently. He eyes fluttered open.

Michael:

I wandered back into the room with a cup of coffee, not entirely expecting to have anyone else in the room. I closed the door quietly behind me and looked over the two men. I was sure I should recognize one or maybe both. But I was tired, and wasn't able to make up my mind on who they might be.
