Naveen

I watched Maleen for a long moment. "I did something terrible to him. It's why I am leaving him with you, before I hurt him again. But what I have done has made him wish to disappear and end his life. So protect him." I said softly, sadness filling my gaze.

Rina:

The look Maleen gave Talon was scorching. I had never seen such a look on her face before. She put her arms around Dorian and helped him walk. “Come on, It’s okay.” She murmured soothingly as she and Wren lead him away. I looked to Talon for answers now. “What happened?” I asked, guarded.

"I told him bad news. His mission...all of what he has worked for his entire life...he is a part of it. He is a descendant of the same witch he has been hunting." I stated simply. "But if I must be the bad guy for this. So be it..." I closed my eyes tiredly and rubbed my face.

Rina:

My eyes widened at his words. “The hypocrite…” I murmured, but I was conflicted. I had been disgusted by Dorians kind for a long time, but I had come to like Dorian. I didn’t know how to feel about this news. I looked down at the rope in my hands. Maybe I should have let him fall…

I sighed softly, "If you wish to leave do so now...the girls hate me now and you seemed to hate me the last time we spoke." I sat down on a bench, looking out over the view before me.

Rina:

“I don’t hate you Talon.” I said softly. “And I’m sure the girls would understand if they knew…” I assured him.

I shrugged my shoulders and sighed softly. "Perhaps. But it is better this way." I stood and turned to her. I regarded her silently, unsure what else could be said. We had parted on bad terms last time, I was surprised she was even talking too me.

Rina:

I sighed softly. "I feel like I may have out stayed my welcome here. I will write to Brian and see if he has something for me to do. The rest of the soldiers should be leaving soon as well." I said with a formal tone.

I frowned at that and looked away. "If that is your wish...Talk to Calan...he can get you a runner." I had turned all of them against me it seemed. So be it. If I was to be a lord alone, I would be a lord alone.

Rina:

I watched him for a moment then stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "I meant what I said the other day. I do hope we can become friends." I said softly.

I nodded briefly. "I know...and I meant what I said then too. I'm not really looking for friendship...but...I will take that...its enough" I was simply weary of it all now. Humans confused me, but I couldn't do anything about it.

Rina:

I raised my eyebrows. "What are you looking for then?" I asked.

"A companion. Eventually I have to settle down, be a lord. A lord can't do it alone. One day I have to find someone to stand beside me.". I said softly, gazing into her eyes.

Rina:

I dropped my gaze. What he described could never be me, even if I wanted it, my life would only be a blip in his. "I would have thought you would be promised to an elf already." I said quietly, the words seemed to leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

My face shifted slightly. "Talon was...she died before we went to be marked...they were in love...me? Never had anyone."

Rina:

"I would guess the pool of eligible ladies would be pretty limited." I said, feeling uncomfortable with the topic.

"Among my people? Yes. But it has never been against the rules to find a mate outside your own species...our blood is strong and children no matter the father or mother become one of us...its like magic...". I reached a hand out to brush a strand of hair out of her face. "Humans are easily the favorites...your people have such a joy and creativity about them...its amazing."

Rina:

I looked down when he brushed my hair back. “I thought you couldn’t have children with a species other than your own.” I murmured, a faint blush coming to my cheeks.

I smiled ruefully. "Its a legend...I doubt any of my people have tried to be with another species in a long time...who knows if we can or cannot. But I am not worried about my line. My family is secure even without me and my own."

Rina:

“I don’t think you’re going to find what you want in me…” I murmured and turned slightly away from him. “I should go make sure the girls are okay…”

Maleen:

We took him to our room and sat him down on a large plush cushion big enough for the three of us to fit on. “Dorian talk to us.” I said soothingly.

I lowered my hand and turned my face away. "If that is your wish..." I closed my eyes, feeling a bit deflated.

Rina:

I sighed. I didn’t want to leave him but I thought it was for the best. “Good night Talon.” I murmured as I turned and walked away.

"I don't want to be Talon forever...Is it so bad to want to be Savion for once?" I spoke softly while looking away from her.

Rina:

I turned back to him. “Then do that. It’s your life to live. I’m sure someone can take over here for you.” I told him. This was something I could complete sympathize with. I had been indulging that part of me my whole life.

I looked at her and shook my head. "Even if I did, I would be just as alone. Go check on the girls."
