Bendehsa stop there, thinking for a minute. If she had him do it manually, she could be right behind him, ready in case he did something she did not like. It was the safer option, but it would likely still not go her way. “Okay. I'm going to let you out...” She told him, moving to a shelf to retrieve a cuff.

"Then we can get started immediately." He stood slowly, keeping his hands down at his sides and trying to look as nonthreatening as possible.

Bendi took a cuff and pressed a button on the box that powered it. She stepped through the bars as if there was nothing there and took hold of his wrists to pull him back through.

"Oh. That was unique. Wish I had time to study that." He gazed longingly at the cuff on her wrist before shrugging it off and clapping his hands. "Right. Let's take a look at the engine room first, then the cockpit. Tari can you draw up schematics of this ship?"

She took him to the engine room with Par following closely behind them, ready to pounce if needed. Bendi kept a close eye on him and everything around them, watching for any possible weapons he might find to use.

"I'm going to need tools...you have those for the ship right? Some people throw them out, but here's hoping right?". He slipped into the engine compartment to squint at the various parts. " mind shining your light around or passing it here?"

She handed over her light and got another one for herself. “I have the tools in the other room. Par's still watching, don't think you've been left unattended.” She warned before she left to grab the box of tools. She was not inept.

He laughed softly and leaned closer to the machinery and wires. "Engine isn't leaking. Reactor seems fine and stable. Warp drive is old but not too old. Everything is kind of old on this ship...hm...". He drummed his fingers on his leg then turned around. " Par? Can I see the cockpit now or shall I wait for her?"

Par growled softly in answer, twitching her tail as she watched him. Bendi returned moments later with the tools. “Did you check it out?” She asked him, with a hand on her hip.

"Yes. Cockpit next? Par is very good at watching. I asked her if I could go and she wouldn't let me. So maybe with you here we can?". He nodded his head rapidly.

“Yes,” She said, looking him over with her face slightly turned. “We can go to the cockpit.” She nodded for him to follow her and Par fell into step behind the two, ever watchful.

Once in the cockpit he sat down at the controls and ran his hands over them. "Right then. Standard...standard...standard....not standard. Hello.". Slipping off the seat he knelt down by a panel and ran his fingers over the words and letters. "Pass me the omnitool."

Bendesha handed him the tool he asked for then stood back to let him work. Par crouched next to her, ready to pounce him if he became threatening.

Ast opened the panel and shook his head. "So that is why...right so I can fix this...but it will take time and we could have other issues in the mean time. Or we can let Tari do her thing and get it done quicker."

“I believe you can do it.” She told him. She was unwilling to give him that much control. If it took him too long then she would give in and let him use the AI but for now she would try to hang onto the power she had.

"So be it.". He agreed after a long moment of looking at her. " Where is life support located?"

Bendesha showed him and checked the time. “Two and a half hours. Can you do it?” She asked him anxiously. It was surreal being in a ship in outer space that was not humming around you.

"I can try...but I need you to trust me okay? I'm not going to try to escape, to fight back, to plug Tari in. This is now a challenge and exciting.". His eyes lit up.

She gave him a strange look. “I don't exactly trust you.” She said honestly. “But do what you must.”

"Where is my backpack then? I need to think and having another person up here is not helping me much. I would like to put her into the tablet if I could." Ast tapped the side of his head.

Bendesha squinted at him. “Does that not defeat the purpose of having you manually fix it, if you have access to everything in your pack?” She asked him suspiciously.

"Not at all. I can create air from some of the things I brought and some things you are sure to have on this ship. Won't be much or good quality. But air all the same. No. Tari can sit on the tablet and so long as she isn't plugged directly into the system she can't restore everything within the few moments it would take." Ast spread his hands. "As always the choice is yours."

Bendesha scowled but eventually gave in and went to fetch the back pack, having first pocketed anything she was uncertain about. Despite him saying the decision was hers, she elt like he was leading the situation.

Once he had his pack he simply dumped out the contents, letting them scatter for a moment before he began to organize them into neat groupings. As he did so he let the tablet power on and the holo display began to form into a seated woman made out of scrolling letters and numbers.

Bendesha sat cross-legged against the wall watching him work.  She wondered if she was going to be able to get him back in the cell without any problems.  It was doubtful.  She started making plans for herself in the case that he was difficult, or even managed to subdue Par and herself.
